So, here's my second cone challenge. It will be running on my Cone Challenge server for the next week. On Friday the 14th the server will run the chosen car(s) for WWCC 2.
Get your setups ready for Friday!
Enjoy!
Btw, I've added the layout and an XFG set to Setupgrid.net.
Ah that cone again... I thought you knew that your wheels should be pointing forward when you are on the start line?, lol.
Did you complete 2 laps? If you did your name should be up there no matter what time you got. It shows top 32 but there was only 24 names when I took the screen shots, hmmm...
Ok, so the free forum I chose doesn't have attachments and it seems to be more work than needed, maybe I could get one here... ... anyway, here's the results...

Next layout will be loaded at midnight(GMT+1) and all road cars will be availible. You will then have till Thursday to setup your cars and try guess which car(s) will be chosen to run the challenge on Friday.
Server is currently open with SO3 and all road cars.
Thanks to all the drivers who set their times and I look forward to seeing your reactions to the next layout!
30 hours from Friday 00:01am, is 6am Saturday, lol. How I thought it was 6pm Sunday, I don't know. That's them funny smokes...
Anyway, sorry about that all. Why didn't someone say it!!
So, it's actually (Fri)24hrs+(Sat)24hrs+(Sun)18hrs=66hrs. Man, why didn't I write the calculation down before now, lol.
So, just to make clear. The challenge ends today at 6pm(GMT+1). At that time I will record the top 32 and open the server to all cars. I will then post the top 32 and the top 10 points scorers for this challenge on the WWCC forum.
Then, tonight at 12pm(midnight) the next challenge will be running for people to get used to until Friday comes again and the server is restricted to one or two cars.
So, once again, sorry about the massive miscalculation, lol.
There's just under 6hrs left to try get into the top 10 for some points.
I do realise that when kids get on and start being annoying, it would be nice to kick. I'm not certain but I think it's a majority thing to kick people and that is the reason I have voting turned off. Kids vote kicking/banning is more annoying than them driving like... well, kids.
I say, let them do what they like, they do get bored with a server like this fairly quickly. I have seen it when I first opened the server.
So, if someone is constantly being annoying, wrecking the course or waiting on track to crash into people and I haven't been on already, then post here or PM me and if I'm online I can sort it. I do have the LFS World "Live host progress" window open and do check to see if anyone is online, but I was out earlier today so was not able to check it. Another option would be to leave them to it and come back in a little while.
I don't think putting a password on the server would be a good move right now. Maybe if it gets very busy with lots of drivers waiting, I will put a pass on and make sure people spec after their runs to give others a go, but putting one on now would be a bad step for a new idea, imho.
Sorry I wasn't on to keep an eye on things, I'll be more vigilant in future!
Hehe, well, they were not for nothing. They will always be here for people to know you were the fastest, not like people needed to be reminded of that though.
I didn't want to make the first challenge too easy. I said I'd leave the same layout on but change the car to something totally opposite to what everyone was running during the week.
And if you could share a set, that would be great Rudy, thanks!
Glad you enjoy the challenge and thanks for your nice comments.
Yeah, I get ye. You are right, your lap PB will only show if you beat your total time PB.
Up to 8th, nice one! Vid isn't too bad, some better angles would have made it.
Anyway, I've started the ball rolling on something and you can read about it either here on the LFS Events forum, or get all the info at the WWCC Forum I have set up. Link in my signature below.
The first Weekly Weekend Cone Challenge will be starting this Friday at 00:01am(GMT+1). To make it a bit easier for us all, the challenge will be using the current layout, which is at South City Sprint 2(SO3). Only one car will be used for this challenge, and that car will be revealed when the challenge starts.
The server is: Cone Challenge and there will be no password used, for now.
So if you think your are fast, then join us on the server and we'll see how fast you really are!
If you have any suggestions, ideas, questions, feel free to reply here.
Well, my plan is, if I decide on more than one car for a challenge, I'll choose cars from the same class, so the problem of catching up the car in front will be less likely to happen. Most of the challenges will have only 1 car availible.
It sure is a nice time, be nice to see a replay or vid of the top times.
Your times are not too bad either.
Nah, smashing into objects is not my kinda thing. Sounds like you'd love the Destruction Derby server.
That's exactly where I got the idea from, PGR2. I recently got 1 month Xbox live just to play the challenges on that game. When the month was up I decided to create a cone challenge in LFS and see what it would run like. Seems to run smooth enough. Just a couple of things I'd like to do. One is to make the countdown longer before start, around 10 seconds. And the other is to try get the top 50 times for each challenge but I need to learn codes and stuff, so it could be a while before I get to that, hehe.
